To enter, please order a ticket online from the tickets page:

Registration will be at the tables on the access to Coppet Hall Beach, SA69 9AJ (What3Words: Cemented.baker.airship)

Registration will be open from 10.00hrs to 11.30hrs.  All swimmers will be required to show their tow float at registration.  No swimmer will be permitted to start the event if they have not registered during these times.  You will be given your event hat, wristband and bag tag at this point. Please attach your wristband to your left wrist and your bag tag to your swim bag.

It is the swimmer’s responsibility to drop off their swim bag at the bag drop off point next to registration.  You are only permitted one swim bag with a tag to be left at the bag drop off.  All items must be secured within this bag.  It is advisable not to leave any items of value into this bag.

All swimmers must be in their identified start pen by the times shown below – at which point a safety briefing will take place.  Any swimmer who misses the safety briefing will not be permitted to enter the water for this event.  The starting pens will be on the left side of the beach (looking out to sea).  If the safety crew deem you unfit to start, then you will be verbally informed and not permitted to start.

The first event starts after the safety briefing.  The safety briefing starts at 11:40hrs prompt.

The starting and finishing point for this event is on Coppet Hall Beach.  The swim route is demonstrated on our website and will swim in a clockwise direction.  The route will start and finish at the red zone (marked on swim route map) and then marked by large inflatable buoys.

Yes.  This depends on your swim ability and the sea conditions.  For safety reasons the 1.5k swim has a 1-hour time limit and the 3k swim has a 2-hour time limit.

If you do not feel that you are capable to continue to swim at any point during this event, please float on your back and raise your hand to attract the attention of the safety crew.

If your tow float has a whistle, you may use this to attract attention. The safety crew have the right to take you to the first aid team based at Coppet Hall Beach – if deemed necessary.

You will need to be at least 16 years old to take part in the swim.

This is deemed to be an Inclusive Event. If you have a disability, you are welcomed to take part (as per the points above), i.e. You can swim the distance for which you have entered.

Please inform the event team at the time of entering if you are arranging or require any additional support.

The 1.5k and 3k swims are optional wetsuit events (unless the sea temperature is below 14 degrees, then wetsuits are compulsory).  If you chose not to wear a wetsuit, please ensure you are accustomed to swimming these distances in sea conditions without a wetsuit prior to this event.  If the water temperature exceeds 22 degrees on the day of the event, wetsuits will not be permitted to be used to prevent overheating.

Yes.  Tow floats are compulsory events for all swimmers.  Please bring your tow float to registration as you will be required to show it.

For the swim events it is advisable, but not compulsory, to wear swim goggles.

You will be provided with an event swim cap and wristband – these MUST be worn during the event. Swim gloves and socks are optional. If you need additional safety equipment due to disability, this must be formally agreed by the event organisers prior to booking the event. No other equipment or aids may be used for this event.

No.  You need to wear the swim cap that will be provided at registration to take part in the swim.

In the lead up to event day, our water safety team will be closely monitoring the weather and tide conditions. If the weather or sea conditions are deemed unsuitable, we may need to cancel the event for safety reasons. We will let all swimmers know as soon as possible, if a cancelation is confirmed – via our Facebook & Instagram pages and website.

Open water swimming is a challenge and is a big step up from swimming in your local pool!  To undertake this challenge, it is recommended that you have experience of swimming in different sea conditions and can swim the recommended distances in a pool or lake as per the swimmer information above.

For part of the swim, you will be at least 200m away from the shore, in deep water.  At all times you must swim with the marker buoys on your right side and left of the safety team.  Please ensure that you sight regularly for the buoys during your swim.

There will be a water safety team spread out along the route.  The route will also be marked with buoys, so it will be easier for you to stay on course and make your way to that all-important finish line on Coppet Hall beach.  If you find that you need support during the swim please roll onto you back to float and hold your hand up out of the water, to attract the attention of the safety crew.

It is highly likely that you will come face to face with jelly fish, large and small, during this swim but there may also be other sea life encounters on route. Do not panic! This is their home after all. If possible, give any wildlife a wide berth. Follow the gov.uk marine and coastal wildlife code:

If you have any concerns about a wildlife encounter during your swim, float on your back and raise your hand to attract the attention of a water safety crew member.

An event swim cap will be provided at registration, and a medal will be provided at the completion of this swim. Additional Swim Event merchandise can be purchased from our event website in due course.

The event does not have specified car parking but there are a number of public car parks available in and around Coppet Hall and Saundersfoot – a short walking distance of the swim start.

No food is provided during or at the end of the swim, although there are many food outlets open (take-away, cafe’s and restaurants) at Coppet Hall Beach Centre (The Kiosk & Lan y Môr Restaurant) and in Saundersfoot village.

There is plenty of accommodation available both in Saundersfoot and the surrounding areas.  If you are travelling for this event, why not book some extra days and enjoy the beautiful towns and villages around these areas in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park!
